Our Services and
Who We Serve

HERizon Healing Society is an inclusive organization committed to providing respectful, survivor-centred support to people of all identities, backgrounds and lived experiences. Anyone who has experienced intimate partner violence, sexual exploitation or sex trafficking is welcome to connect with us.

Our services may include justice navigation, mental health and healing supports, cultural connection, information, advocacy and referrals to trusted community partners. Services are guided by each person’s individual needs, choices and readiness. Our goal is to build relationships grounded in dignity, consistency and mutual respect while maintaining clear personal and professional boundaries. Relationship expectations, roles, communication practices and boundaries will be discussed before services begin so that everyone has a shared understanding of how support will be provided.

For youth participants seeking direct justice navigation and/or mental health services; these are always voluntary and requires the informed consent of the person receiving support. For participants aged 17 or younger, services require both the young person’s voluntary participation and the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

If you are unsure whether HERizon is the right fit, have questions about our services or are looking for a warm referral to another organization, we welcome you to reach out. We will listen with care and help identify an appropriate next step whenever possible.

Justice Supports & Services

SOAR (Singing Our Absolute Revival)

The SOAR Program was created to support Indigenous victims/survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual exploitation and sex trafficking navigate the justice system. SOAR Navigators support Relatives (Indigenous-led term used in place of Survivor) throughout the justice journey, connect with community, and access healing through culture & specialized mental health services.

SOAR is an Indigenous-led, survivor centred, culturally responsive program, but is also available to diverse populations as well. The services are dedicated to ensuring that Relatives receive equitable supports throughout the entirety of the systemic engagement, interventions, and programs as needed pre and post judicial proceedings.

The SOAR Navigator walks alongside Relatives and opens doors to support the engagement with critical partners like, Police, Crown Prosecutors, Elders/Knowledge Keepers, and community services. The SOAR Navigator can assist Relatives in applying for a Human Trafficking Protection Order/or EPO, report to police, attend legal meeting(s) and court accompaniment. Relatives will have access to cultural activities such as smudging, teachings and ceremonies, as desired. With the support of wraparound care, trauma informed relationships, and cultural reconnection, Relatives can rebuild their lives with autonomy, community, and safety.
